Why does a boat day cost more than a land day?
Fuel, crew, port fees and catering, in roughly that order. A twelve-seat van with a driver-guide is one salary and a tank of diesel. A catamaran with a captain, a hostess and a chef, anchoring off an uninhabited island for four hours with an open bar running, is a different business. The fare difference between the cheapest land circuit and a full catered sail is about From $118, and most of it is lunch and staff.
What is a meal on board actually worth?
More than it looks. A cooked Greek meal, wine, beer and soft drinks for five hours in a Mykonos beach restaurant would not leave change from the difference between the catered cruises and the ones that are not. On the eight-course catamaran the chef is the product, and the reviews back that up. The honest arithmetic is that a catered boat day is usually cheaper than the same day uncatered plus lunch ashore in high season.
What does the private premium buy?

What you get is not a better route — the stops are largely the same lighthouse, village and monastery — but control of the pace and nobody else's schedule. Budget about €25 on top of any Delos cruise. That is the single most common gap between what people expect to pay and what they pay.
What do the buses cost instead?
A few euros a ride, and they reach Ornos, Platis Gialos, Paradise, Elia and Ano Mera. The Sea Bus between the ports is €2. The Chora, the windmills, Little Venice and Paraportiani cost nothing at all. A perfectly good day here can be had for under €15, and it is worth saying so plainly — what the buses cannot do is the north of the island or anything on the water. What should a cruise passenger budget?

Doing it independently costs about €10 in bus and Sea Bus fares — but only if your ship gives you enough hours and berths somewhere useful. Is the cheapest day the worst day?
No, and it is worth being clear about that. The From $44 sunset boat is an honest product that does exactly what it says: a DJ, a bar, a half-hour swim and two hours off Little Venice while the light goes. The From $58 land circuit covers seven stops with a licensed guide. What you give up at the bottom of the range is group size — 137 on the party boat and up to 30 on the coach — and catering, not competence.
What is free cancellation actually worth here?
More than on most islands, because of the wind. Every tour in this list refunds in full up to 24 hours before the start time, and several add that an operator cancellation for weather means another date or your money back. On an island where the meltemi re-routes boats through July and August, that window is the difference between booking early at the price you want and waiting for a forecast. Where is the price set, and by whom?
By the operators, on their own listings, and it moves. Fares here were captured on 5 September 2026 and several carried a dated promotional price at the time. The €20 Delos ticket is set by the Greek Ministry of Culture, the €2 monastery entry by the monastery, and the €2 Sea Bus fare by its operator. Nothing here adds to any of them.
Where do the fares move, and when?
Two ways. The first is promotional: several of these operators run dated discounts of ten to twenty per cent, advertised with an end date on the listing itself, and the figure you see today is the figure that applies today. The second is seasonal availability rather than price — a capped twelve-seat sailing does not get more expensive in August, it simply stops being available, and what remains is the larger, pricier boat.
The practical consequence is that booking early in high season saves you money indirectly, by keeping the cheaper capped boats in reach. With free cancellation at 24 hours on every product here, that costs nothing to do.
How to spend the least and still have the day
- Walk the Chora and the windmills on the day you arrive. Free.
- Take the KTEL bus to a south-coast beach. A few euros.
- Book one thing properly: either the boat or the north-of-the-island circuit.
